One of the deputy prime ministers of Yemen’s National Salvation Government, referring to the criticism of the sanctions against Yemen’s Ansarullah movement by 190 international organizations, said that only the Zionist regime, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain’s Ale Khalifa supported this move by the US.

“The U.S. decision to designate the Yemeni Ansarullah movement as a terrorist organization sent a message to the world, namely that the U.S. does not seek peace in Yemen,” Deputy Prime Minister of the National Salvation Government Hussein Maqbouli told Al-Masira.

He added that the U.S. decision will increase the suffering of the Yemeni people, even those living in areas occupied by the Saudi-Iraqi coalition.

“Trump and his administration made this decision to disrupt the peace process in Yemen, which indicates that the U.S. seeks chaos and bloodshed in Yemen,” said Mahmoud al-Junaid, another deputy prime minister in the National Salvation Government.

Yemeni Justice Minister Mohammed al-Dailami likewise said the U.S. government’s decision is an attempt to destabilize Yemen.

The U.S. Treasury Department added Yemen’s Ansarullah movement to the U.S. sanctions list last Tuesday (Jan. 19). According to the U.S. Treasury statement, three leaders of the Ansarullah resistance movement, Abdullah Yahya al-Hakim, Abdul Malik Badruddin al-Houthi and Abdul Khaliq al-Houthi, were also added to the U.S. terrorist list.

The U.S. action comes at a time when Saudi Arabian coalition attacks on Yemen have continued since March 26, 2015, as well as the siege of this poor country.
