The U.S. Department of Commerce has identified 45 Russian companies, 58 Chinese companies as organizations with military ties, imposing against them a ban on the purchase of goods.

The new restrictions apply to the administration of the Russian presidency, the Ministry of Defense, the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), Rosoboronexport, Rostec, Sukhoi. Russia’s United Aircraft Corporation, Admiralty Shipyard and aircraft manufacturers Tupolev and Beriev aircraft also ended up on the list.

Russian nuclear and space companies had never been targeted by U.S. sanctions before. The only previous restriction was placed on the use of Russian rockets to launch satellites with data that could be used by the Pentagon.

Previously, the media had reported that Washington’s new sanctions related to China could affect 28 Russian companies engaged in the civil and defense sectors.
