The plan for the partial withdrawal of U.S. soldiers from Germany drawn up under U.S. President Donald Trump has been suspended following the change of power in the White House.
According to General Tod Wolters, who is responsible for U.S. forces in Europe, the administration of new President Joe Biden has ordered a thorough review of the plan.
New Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin will make a decision in consultation with the White House, Wolters told reporters in Washington on Wednesday.
“I don’t know what it will be,” Wolters added.
“Existing plans for implementing the previous plan have been suspended to allow the secretary of defense and the administration to fully review current issues until Austin comes to power,” added the general in charge of U.S. forces in Europe.
