The American news magazine “Time” has declared 2020 to be the worst year ever for the current world population in history.
The magazine published the cover of the new issue on its official Twitter account. The image features the large numbers 2020 crossed out with a red cross. At the bottom it is written: “Worst year”.
The article with the corresponding title was written by the American film critic of the magazine, Stephanie Zacharek. According to the author, most of the planet’s population now alive has hardly experienced such a “terrible year” before.
“Most of us could not prepare for such things: Natural disasters that confirm how much we have betrayed nature, elections based on our fantasies, and finally, the virus that could have come from a bat and led to the deaths of about one and a half million people around the world,” the article states.
The author of the article also noted that there have been times in the history of the United States and the entire world that have been even worse than 2020. However, she said, this was far in the past, and there were few people left who remembered the terrible years of the two world wars, the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic and the Great Depression.
