claiming to have arrested in recent hours eight people guilty of communicating with suspicious sites and contributing to the dissemination of information that weakens national sentiment.
In a statement that appeared on the official Facebook page of the Ministry of Interior in Damascus, it recalls the articles of the Syrian Penal Code in which penalties are established for cyber crimes, related to the publication on suspicious profiles in social networks of false news or creating illusions in the public opinion.
The Syrian ministry released only the initials of the eight arrested.
Presidential elections are expected in July after legislative ones, scheduled between next April and May.
