Operations continue in Spain to extinguish several large fires that have developed in different parts of the country in recent days…:
as made known by local authorities, work is currently being done in particular to contain two active fires in Navarre (north), while in the province of Zamora (Castile and León) an attempt is being made to definitively smother the one that has devastated the Sierra de la Culebra, and in Catalonia progress has been made with the one in Artesa de Segre (Lleida). Some help is coming from meteorology, with temperatures today milder than the highs of the last week across much of the country. Meanwhile, in the morning there was also an alert in Toledo, where one of the city’s iconic monuments, the fortress called Alcázar (now home to a museum and library), was affected by fire. The blaze, which probably originated from an electrical problem, was “smothered” before any personal or material damage was recorded, according to the Toledo municipality.
