Continuing an adversarial dialogue between Russia and the United States could lead to further degradation of relations.
This was said by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov during his conversation with his U.S. counterpart Victoria Nuland. the conversation was “extremely frank,” it was useful, but for now the positions of the parties remain far apart, he added. “For the moment, the situation with visas, with consular work, with the presence of Russian diplomatic personnel in the United States and American diplomatic personnel in Russia is not improving. We talked very frankly about these issues with Under Secretary of State Nuland. The positions of the parties do not match, the Americans do not listen to our logic, to our demands, but nevertheless the conversation was useful,” Ryabkov added.
