MOSCOW – The Russian Defense Ministry announced Thursday morning the start of the Vostok-2022 exercises with warplanes immediately going into action and the transfer of anti-aircraft combat units.
On Thursday morning Russia’s armed forces together with troops from a number of allied countries including China began a large-scale military exercise. China’s presence in this maneuver is a confirmation of the growing rapprochement between Moscow and Beijing, both of which are in high tension with the United States. Vostok 2022, again according to Moscow Defense, are the strategic exercises to exercise military security in the eastern region. The maneuvers feature units from Russia’s Pacific Fleet and the People’s Republic of China and will last until Sept. 7.
