MOSCOW – Russian President Putin points the finger at Washington for wanting to prolong the conflict in Ukraine, fueling wars in other parts of the world as well.
As Tass news agency reports, according to the Kremlin leader, the decision to conduct a special military operation in Ukraine was made in full compliance with the UN Charter. “The objectives of this operation are clearly defined: to ensure the security of Russia and our citizens and to protect the inhabitants of the Donbass from genocide,” he explained. According to Putin, moreover, the United States “has prepared for the Ukrainian people a future as cannon fodder.”
At the Russian Security Conference in Moscow, the Kremlin leader stressed that the United States has once again thrown gasoline on the fire, and this time the reference is to the delicate situation in the Asia-Pacific.
Putin’s warning follows the visit of a delegation of U.S. members of Congress to Taiwan’s parliament to bring support and backing and discuss strengthening political and trade relations with the island, which China considers part of its national territory.
