The violence occurred as the body was transferred accompanied by a long procession from Saint Louis French Hospital in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of East Jerusalem, where Abu Akleh’s body remained overnight, to Jaffa Gate in Jerusalem’s Old City, where the funeral ceremony was held at the Basilica of the Annunciation of the Virgin. According to images that aired on Palestinian broadcasters, Abu Akleh’s coffin was almost falling to the ground as Zionist regime police were trying to snatch Palestinian flags out of the hands of people participating in the procession.
