The Russian Foreign Ministry has announced that the return of the United States to the nuclear agreement – JCPOA- must take place without any preconditions.
The Russian Foreign Ministry announced on Monday evening in a statement regarding the results of the unofficial meeting of foreign ministers of the countries remaining in the nuclear agreement: “We believe that the return of the United States to the nuclear agreement -JCPOA- should take place without any preconditions. Our partners and we are ready to work together on this, and we are ready to help the Americans move in the right direction.”
The real source of instability in the nuclear agreement implementation process continues to be the U.S. and its destructive actions, the Russian Foreign Ministry statement said, adding, “Despite maximum U.S. pressure on Iran, the nuclear agreement is still intact.”
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at the unofficial foreign ministers’ meeting that he hoped that not only the JCPOA parties present, but also Washington, would consider honoring all the obligations of that agreement. He also stressed that U.S. compliance with U.N. Security Council Resolution 2231 is not an option, but a prerequisite.
