In Canada, the first monkeypox vaccine clinics have opened in Toronto.
Toronto Public Health explained that in the coming weeks several clinics will be able to vaccinate those who have had close contact with someone who has tested positive and those at higher risk of being exposed to the virus. The first clinic began immunizing high-risk individuals yesterday, and is targeting employees of bathhouses. There are 11 confirmed cases in the city, while in total in Canada the infections have reached 112. Dr. Theresa Tam said most cases involve men who have had sexual contact with other men, although the virus can spread to anyone who has had close physical contact with an infected person.
