the military base of Gao, in Mali. The base is used by troops engaged in Operation Barkhane that operates in the Sahel under the leadership of France.

The about 20 Italian soldiers “are well and during the attack they took refuge inside special bunkers”, reports the Ministry of Defense. The evolution of the situation has been followed personally by the Minister of Defense Lorenzo Guerini.
