ALGIERS – Hard intervention of the president of Algeria, Abdelmajid Tebboune, on the situation in Libya, a country “destabilized” where it is still ongoing…
“a war by proxy” and where “those who are elected represent only themselves.” Addressing the U.S. Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, the Algerian head of state expressed all his dissatisfaction with the situation in Libya, where the United States is carrying out a mediation in agreement with the United Nations. “We have done everything so that our Libyan brothers and sisters would have the opportunity to express themselves and we have been fighting for these elections in Libya for two years now. We have come to the conclusion that those elected represent no one. Every time there is an election, they only represent themselves,” Tebboune said. The president also spoke of the tensions between the interim premier of the Government of National Unity (Gun), Abdulhamid Dabaiba and “the one who was appointed by the so-called House of Representatives,” namely Fathi Bashagha, premier of the designated Government of National Stability (Gsn). “This situation will continue because none of them are representative,” Tebboune added.
