Hussein Amir-Abdullahian, the spokesman for the people’s committee for commemorating the first anniversary of Haj Qassem Soleimani’s martyrdom, today (Sunday) in a press conference in Tehran announced the plans to mark the martyrdom anniversary of Haj Qassem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi Al Mouhandis.
“The first anniversary of Haj Qassem’s martyrdom coincides with our Lady Fatima Zahra’s martyrdom (or the Fatimiyah days). The late General Soleimani had always observed this occasion in his Husseiniya in Kerman, his hometown,” Mehr News Agency quoted Mr Amir-Abdullahian as saying, adding that one of the salient characteristics of Gen. Soleimani was his modest approach towards the nation.
Amir-Abdullahian noted that Ms Zeinab Soleimani, on behalf of the martyr’s family, is leading extensive activities for the anniversary of Haj Qassem’s martyrdom. He added that the official commencement of the martyrdom anniversary of the IRGC’s Quds Force commander began in the past few days with a meeting which gathered Martyr Soleimani’s family members with Iran’s Supreme Leader Imam Khamenei.
The Iranian officials added that various programs have also been intended by those who wish to pay homage to Gen. Soleimani. The spokesman for the people’s committee for commemorating the first anniversary of Haj Qassem Soleimani’s martyrdom added that the cultural programs have a ten-day period and will continue until its peak on January 16th, when the Supreme Leader shall deliver a sermon in honor of Gen. Soleimani. In the domestic aspects, Amir-Abdullahian added that various initiatives are being undertaken by non-government activists and from different walks of life, highlighting that these programs will be held on cyberspace due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Amir-Abdullahian pointed out that on the occasion of Haj Qassem’s martyrdom anniversary, 2,000 prisoners who committed unintentional offences have been released through the financial support offered by faithful citizens. He added that fans of Martyr Soleimani can submit literary works in the field of storytelling, poetry, memoirs, articles, photos to Haj Qassem Soleimani’s website.
Amir-Abdullahian added that hundreds of documentary films have been produced to shed light on Gen. Soleimani’s great character. He noted that the first autobiography of Gen. Soleimani, which is dubbed “I was not afraid of anything” will be published in the few coming days and it will be translated into seven languages.
Refereeing to the Gen. Soleimani’s marvellous political and military achievements, Mr Amir-Abdullahian emphasized that Haj Qassem thwarted the vicious America agendas and prevented them to turn Syria to another war-torn Libya. He added that the massive funeral procession of Haj Qassem clearly manifested the loyal relation which bonds the Iranian nation to the Islamic Republic.
