This is what Kenneth Roth, executive director of the human rights organization Human Rights Watch (HRW), said in his annual report, published on January 13, adding that during his four-year term, the US president has not only been indifferent to human rights, but has also taken a hostile approach, according to the AFP news agency.
Ruth added that US president-elect Joe Biden is expected to work with world leaders who seek to strengthen the defense of human rights around the globe.
The report also insists on strengthening the position of human rights in U.S. policies, saying that Biden should be able to save his country’s politics from the abyss of fundamental changes created in its institutions.
HRW’s executive director pointed out that the U.S. condemnation of Venezuela, Cuba and Iran, in parallel with its praise and support for Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Israel, has seriously undermined the northern country’s credibility in the world.
By instigating his supporters to lead the joint meeting of the Senate and Congress on January 6 into chaos, Trump not only failed to maintain his position, but also faces a recall and impeachment scandal before leaving the Presidency.
