the purchase of precious metals from Moscow. According to RT network citing data from Destatis, the German Federal Statistical Office, said the volume of German imports from Russia in the first seven months of this year increased by 32.6 percent year-on-year scale and reached $27.9 billion.
According to Andrey Sobolov, Russia’s trade representative in Germany, the increase in imports of fuel and energy products from Russia was 40.5 percent through July. The purchase of Russian gold also increased more than tenfold, while the volume of German imports of silver from Russia increased almost fivefold.
The EU member state also increased its purchases of other metals from Russia, including copper, aluminum and nickel.
The Russian trade representative also explained that despite the general decline in exports to Russia, the purchase of medicines, seeds and fruits from Germany increased.
Russia accounted for 2.3 percent of Germany’s total foreign trade and was the fourth most important country for German goods outside the EU in 2021.
