LONDON – Boris Johnson has signed the contract to build England’s first nuclear power plant as he is counting his last days as prime minister.
AAA reports. According to London’s nuclear strategy, the country sees the construction of a nuclear power plant every year until 2030. Last April 7, 2022, the British government published the British energy security strategy, setting out energy development goals. To achieve them now Johnson has given the green light to the Sizewell C nuclear power plant construction project on the Suffolk coast. The announcement came in a government press release stating that the project has received development approval from the secretary of state for business, energy and industrial strategy. Local activists, however, are protesting the risks of environmental impact.
