The New Democratic Party of Canada (NDP) has voted to draft a resolution calling for a change in NDP policy to support sanctions against the Zionist Israeli regime.
The NDP announced Sunday that party members approved a resolution calling for a boycott of products from illegal Israeli settlements and an arms embargo against Israel.
“This vote is a big win for party activists, including Palestinian and Jewish members, who have been organizing for years to get the NDP to take action in support of Palestinian human rights,” reads the statement from the resolution’s main organizers.
This position is not only popular with the NDP membership, but is also supported by the vast majority of the Canadian labor movement, as well as the Canadian population at large.
According to the Palestinian news agency Wafa, a 2017 EKOS Research poll confirmed that, in the context of Israel’s ongoing human rights violations, 78 percent of Canadians believe that the Palestinians’ call for a boycott is reasonable.
The Zionist regime has been committing widespread atrocious crimes against civilians in Palestine, particularly in Gaza, for many years.
