Former U.S. National Security Advisor John Bolton admitted to receiving tens of thousands of dollars from the anti-Iran terrorist cult of the Mujahideen-e-Khalq Organization (MKO, better known as Monafeghin) when the group was still a banned terrorist organizationand had not been removed from Washington’s blacklist.
In an interview with Al Jazeera’s host Mehdi Hassan, the anti-Iranian warmonger was asked to outline his long-standing hostility toward the Islamic Republic as well as his relationship with the Monafeghin, which has long been responsible for the deaths, murders and torture of thousands of Iranians.
“How much of your dislike of Iran has to do with geopolitics, and how much with the fact that you have a long relationship with a group called the MKO, which was once a terrorist group banned by the State Department when you worked there?” asked Hassan Bolton.
“You don’t mention that in your book. I looked in your book and the MKO was not mentioned there. I think you got tens of thousands of dollars for several speeches. I’m just wondering how much that affects your policy toward Iran?” the Al Jazeera host asked.
The former U.S. national security adviser took a confident stance, responding, “You know I’ve received tens of thousands of dollars for speeches at liberal universities in the United States.”
Bolton, however, tried to shift the blame away from himself by saying, “The fact is that Hillary Clinton [former U.S. secretary of state], maybe someone you support, removed MKO from the U.S. list of terrorist organizations.”
Bolton’s response was quickly rejected by Hassan, who argued, “She took them off in 2012 and you talked to them in 2010 when they were still a banned group.”
While Bolton was still trying to hide the fact, Hassan claimed, “You spoke in Paris in 2010 at an MKO rally when they were still a banned group, according to the State Department.”
(N/FE/RH)
