Ansarallah shot down a Saudi spy drone in mid-air in the skies over Maarib, eastern Yemen.
According to al-Masirah, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, a spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces, announced on Monday December 21 that a Saudi spy drone was shot down by a Yemeni Army air defense unit, saying it was a Saudi Army CH-4.
“The drone was shot down while on an espionage mission over the Madqal district of Maarib province,” Saree said.
Saudi Arabia has not yet reacted to this event.
The CH-4 has wings 18 meters long and has a range of 5,000 kilometers. The drone can fly at altitudes ranging from 5,000 to 7,000 meters and engages in military operations to gather information.
In addition, Yemeni fighters continue their operations in the northwest, southwest and south of the province of Maarib in order to recover areas occupied by mercenaries in the pay of the Saudi aggression coalition.
A source closely following developments in Maarib province commented on the details of the clashes in the Raghwan district, northwest of Maarib: “Clashes are underway in the locality of al-Sahel, north of the Raghwan district, and Yemeni fighters are trying to regain control of this area.
The Yemeni source added that Ansarallah fighters were trying to secure the newly liberated locality of al-Samrah, south of Raghwan.
“Clashes are also underway in the suburbs of Fatikha and Nalkha, east and northeast of Madghal, from where Yemeni fighters are trying to reach the town of Maarib,” she said.
According to the same source, “some 95% of Madghal has so far been liberated and the Yemeni fighters are 15 kilometers from the city of Maarib”.
In addition, 73% of the area of Sirwah has been recovered by Yemeni fighters.
Clashes continue in the suburbs of al-Awshal and east of Mount Salil, north and northeast of Rahba of which 96% have been liberated by Yemeni fighters.
If Yemeni fighters succeed in securing the road linking Ablah to al-Abadiya and its surroundings, the main supply route for pro-Riyad mercenaries will be blocked.
